Cognitive and psychological work for adults after neurological or health-related change

I am an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist offering private outpatient assessment and therapy in Haslemere, Surrey, and online across the UK.

The focus of the practice is cognitive and psychological work with adults following acquired brain injury, stroke, and other neurological or health-related change, including standardised neuropsychological assessment where indicated. I also offer general adult therapy for anxiety, low mood, trauma, and adjustment difficulties, where these are suitable for planned outpatient work.

Work is assessment-led and time-limited, beginning with a clear, shared understanding of the difficulty and a plan for what follows.

About

Reinhart Burger, Clinical Psychologist

I have worked as a psychologist since 2012, across charitable and private settings. My experience spans neuropsychological rehabilitation and trauma-focused therapy, including senior clinical roles in neurorehabilitation (QEF and Brainkind) and specialist trauma services (Combat Stress).

In private practice I draw on this background to offer structured psychological work for adults seeking help. I work primarily with cognitive‑behavioural and trauma‑focused approaches, including CT‑PTSD (Ehlers & Clark) and Narrative Exposure Therapy. Where relevant, I also draw on compassion‑focused and neuropsychologically informed approaches.

An initial appointment is an opportunity to clarify what has brought you to seek support, what you would like to change, and whether the work I offer is a good fit. Where it is, we agree a clear focus and direction together.

Areas of work

  • Cognitive and psychological impact of acquired brain injury, stroke, or other neurological conditions
  • Standardised neuropsychological assessment for outpatient presentations, with formulation and adjustment-focused intervention
  • Adjustment following illness, injury, or major life transitions

  • Psychological trauma and its longer-term impact

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually held weekly or fortnightly. I see clients in person at a consulting room in Haslemere, Surrey, and online via Microsoft Teams.
